15 workers were trapped in the mine late on Tuesday night.

The first three people were evacuated around 7 am and were referred to Jaipur Hospital. Officials said that in the second round at around 9.1 am, five people were evacuated. The rescued people were in healthy condition.

Medicines and food packets were being sent to the people trapped inside. A team of doctors and ambulance have been kept on alert near the incident site. Immediately after the incident came to light, dozens of ambulances and doctors along with police teams were sent to the spot for the rescue operation.

On Tuesday, the vigilance team including Khetri Copper Corporation (KCC chief) descended on the mines. The accident was reported when they were leaving the mines at 8.10 pm. The vigilance team from Kolkata and senior officials of Khetri Copper Corporation (KCC) were in the lift when the tea broke.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said, "Information has been received about this accident due to breakage of lift chain in Kolihan mine of Hindustan Copper Limited in Khetri, Jhunjhunu. The concerned officers were directed to immediately reach the spot and carry out rapid relief and rescue operations and provide all possible help and health facilities to the affected people.

“I pray to God that the people trapped in the mine come out safely,” he said.

Earlier, Deputy CM Diya Kumari said, "There is no loss of life in the accident that took place in the Kolihan mine of Hindustan Copper Limited in Jhunjhunu, Khetri. So far three people have been evacuated. I wish that the people trapped in the mine come out safely and the rescue operation is completed soon.

His tweet came after three people were rescued in the first round. However, five more people were rescued in the next round.

Officials said the remaining six people would be evacuated soon
