New Criminal Law (BNS), Indian Civil Defense Code (BNSS), and Indian Evidence Act (BSA) (IPC), Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and Indian Evidence Act.

“The new laws have come into effect across the state from Monday. The interests of the common people are linked to these new laws and the victims will get justice soon with the new laws. The police should keep giving information to the common people from time to time about new laws. Sharma said, it is the responsibility of all of us to ensure that the victims get the benefits of the new laws.

“The old laws were made by the British to ensure that they continued to rule India and there was no sympathy or sensitivity towards these laws. They did not care about providing justice to the people, rather their aim was to rule Indians,” he said and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for freeing India from signs of slavery in the form of these colonial laws.

Sharma was addressing Rajasthan Police, CLG members, police friends and security friends through video conference on Monday.

According to the change, crimes registered after 12 midnight on June 30 will now be registered under the new law.

Section 103 of the Indian Judicial Code will be applied instead of Section 302 of the IPC for murder. The laws which were in place since the British era have been abolished after 163 years.

If caught stealing less than Rs 5000, the court can punish the accused by making him do community service. E-FIR can now be filed through mobile, WhatsApp and email.
