New Delhi [India] Heavy rain lashed parts of Delhi on Thursday, providing much-needed relief from the scorching heat.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted weather for the next seven days with generally cloudy skies and gusty winds along with rain of varying intensity.

As IMD has predicted for June 27, the temperature will range from a maximum of 38C to a minimum of 29C. The IMD also predicts very light rain or thundershowers with similar gusty winds. The forecast on June 28 includes light to moderate rain or storm, temperatures will be similar to the previous day and wind speeds will reach 35 km/h.

The weather is expected to be slightly cooler on June 29, with the maximum temperature being 36C and the minimum temperature being 28C. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain or thundershowers in the city and winds will blow at a speed of 30-40 km/hr. The temperature will drop to 34C on June 30 with moderate to heavy rain and strong winds.

For July 1 and 2, the IMD has predicted moderate rain and thundershowers with a maximum of 34C and minimum of 27C. Wind speed will vary maintaining the range of 25-35 km/hr.

There is a possibility of increase in the possibility of vehicle accidents due to minor disruption in traffic due to weather conditions and accumulation of water on the roads. Residents are advised to check traffic congestion before visiting and avoid areas prone to waterlogging.

In related news, schools and colleges will remain closed today in six districts of Kerala due to heavy rain warning.

The IMD has issued an orange alert for Wayanad and Kannur, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next few days.

Monsoon is expected to advance into northwest India, bringing more rain and respite from the heat.
