Bhubaneswar: Railways will run 315 special trains from Puri during the Rath Yatra for the convenience of pilgrims, officials said.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed this to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and his two deputies Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Parvati Parida during a meeting in New Delhi on Friday, he said.

At the meeting, Vaishnav said, it has been decided that 315 special trains will be run from July 6 to July 19 for the Rath Yatra festival and will also cover most of Odisha.

He said the Railway Ministry will also make arrangements for accommodation for 15,000 devotees in Puri for the festival.

Special trains on Gundicha Yatra have been planned from Badampahar, Rourkela, Balasore, Sonepur and Daspalla, Junagadh Road, Sambalpur, Kendujhargarh, Paradip, Bhadrak, Angul, Gunupur, Bangiriposi, East Coast Railway (ECOR) said in a statement.

Apart from this, special trains have also been planned for Adhrapan rituals of Sandhya Darshan, Bahuda Jatra, Suna Vesha and Rath Yatra.

ECoR General Manager Parmeshwar Funkwal inspected the arrangements to deal with the Rath Yatra crowd at Puri station.

Funkwal gave instructions to complete the arrangements in advance.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister and his two MLAs, who are on a visit to New Delhi, also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, besides Union ministers Piyush Goyal, Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat during the day. ,

On Thursday he met President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Nitin Gadkari.

The CM has invited leaders to attend the Rath Yatra ceremony in Puri, which will be held on July 7.
