A senior official revealed the ministry's plan to increase production to produce 4,485 non-AC coaches in the current financial year (2024-25) and 5,444 of these non-AC coaches in 2025-26.

Additionally, the Railways plans to manufacture more than 5,300 general coaches to significantly increase the capacity of its rolling stock.

Elaborating on the ambitious plan, a senior Indian Railways official on Thursday said that in the current financial year, Indian Railways is set to manufacture 2,605 general coaches, including special ones designed to enhance passenger amenities. Amrit Bharat General Coach is also included.

Along with these, 1,470 non-AC sleeper coaches and 323 SLR (Sitting-cum-Luggage Rake) coaches, including Amrit Bharat coaches, 32 high capacity parcel vans and 55 pantry cars, have been manufactured to meet diverse passenger needs. Will be done for. and logistical requirements.

In the financial year 2025-26, Indian Railways aims to increase its fleet by 2,710 general coaches, which will continue to include Amrit Bharat general coaches known for their advanced features.

The production target for this period also includes 1,910 non-AC sleeper coaches including Amrit Bharat General coaches and 514 SLR coaches including Amrit Bharat Sleeper coaches.
