New Delhi, Indian Railways has said that it will manufacture 10,000 non-AC coaches in the next two financial years.

“The objective of this initiative is to enhance facilities for common rail passengers. Over the next two years, the total number of non-AC coaches will be increased by 22 per cent,” Northern Railways said in a statement.

Giving details for the financial year 2024-25, the statement said construction of 2,605 general coaches, 1,470 non-AC sleeper coaches and 323 high-capacity parcel vans along with 323 sitting-cum-luggage rake (SLR) coaches. Will be done. 55 Pantry Car.

"Designed to improve passenger convenience, this breakup also includes addition of General, Sleeper and SLR coaches for Amrit Bharat trains," it said.

Similarly, the Railways said 2,710 general coaches, 1,910 non-AC sleeper coaches, 514 SLR coaches, 200 high-capacity parcel vans and 110 pantry cars will be manufactured in 2025-26.

"The focus of the Railways is to ensure adequate and better facilities for passengers traveling in non-AC coaches and to enhance comfort and availability in response to varying passenger needs and seasonal fluctuations," the statement said.
