New Delhi: Train services, including Vande Bharat, were disrupted for more than an hour due to the recent fight between a station master and an electrical signal maintainer at the Varanasi railway junction, a joint inquiry report by the railways said on Thursday.

The investigation conducted by three senior officials of the Lucknow division of the Northern Railway, under which the Varanasi railway station falls, said that train operations were disrupted for 40 minutes due to the clash that took place around 7.30 pm on May 28. All these trains cross Varanasi station during their journey.According to investigation, the fight between the two started when Electrica signal maintainer Shahzad wanted to open the reset box of the section digital axle counter (SSDAC), while station master Saroj Kumar stopped him from doing so without proper permission and information. Kumar alleged in his statement that Shehzad attacked him with a stone on his head and right arm, due to which he bled profusely and became unconscious.

"Due to excessive bleeding from the head, I suffered a blackout and was unable to operate the train," Kumar said in his statement. He said senior officials have been informed about the situation.On the other hand, Shehzad defended himself and accused Kumar of misbehaving with him and using abusive language. Shahzad said that he was not opening the reset box but wanted to note down its serial number and company name but Kuma not only stopped him from doing so but also rudely asked him to leave the station master's room immediately.
