New Delhi, RailTel Corporation of India Limited, a Mini Ratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, has launched an initiative to promote Indian technology, innovation and products in South Africa and the surrounding region.

It signed a tripartite MoU with Tsico Africa Energy & Infrastructure on April 24 for Innovite () Ltd and Tsico Group to also explore opportunities in sectors such as telecommunications, railways and other IT/IC businesses in South Africa.

“The scope of this MOU includes the activation and commercialization of dark fiber along railway lines and high voltage transmission lines in South Africa,” RailTel's press statement said.

It also includes railway signaling and telecommunications solutions, digital TW modeling of railway assets for predictive maintenance and traffic simulation OFC based distributed acoustic systems (DAS) etc. for public and private RAI operators within South Africa.

The MoU was signed in Pretoria, South Africa in the presence of Prabhat Kumar, High Commissioner of India to South Africa and Mahesh Kumar, Consul General of India in Johannesburg.
