Thane, Maharashtra's excise department has raided several illegal liquor manufacturing centers in Thane and Raigad districts and seized liquor and other materials worth over Rs 31 lakh, officials said on Monday.
State Excise Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryavanshi led the action on Saturday and the exercise, carried out by around 130 personnel, also included the use of boats at some places, a release from the Thane district information office said.
It said the raiding teams seized about 600 liters of hand kiln liquor, over 69,000 liters of chemicals and other materials as well as destroyed some distilleries.
It said more than 30 cases have been registered under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, Indian Penal Code and other legal provisions.
