New Delhi [India], Congress leader Rahul Gandhi praised RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav for his hard work during the Lok Sabha elections, who continued campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections despite severe lower back pain.

At the India Block meeting at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's residence on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi praised Tejashwi Yadav for his tireless efforts and political campaigning. A person present at the spot told ANI, "In a light tone, Rahul Gandhi addressed Tejashwi Yadav and said, 'You have worked hard to break the room'."

Despite suffering from severe back pain during the general election campaign, Tejashwi was seen on several occasions rallying or attending political events in a wheelchair – the man on whom the Bharat campaign in Bihar depended almost entirely.

Taking painkillers, wearing a lumbo sacral belt to give back relief and using a wheelchair when possible, Tejashwi campaigned, garnering support for the alliance.Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) won four of the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar, getting the highest vote share in the state at 22.14 per cent. Gandhi reassured Tejashwi and said, 'You worked very hard and the results were not as expected, but don't worry, you performed well.'

Tejashwi started suffering from back pain and was seen limping and dependent on assistants during the election campaign on 3 May. Shortly afterwards, he was advised 'maximum bed rest' and to use a belt to relieve pain and stiffness. However, more than a month later, Tejashwi had addressed 251 public meetings and rallies with back pain.Counting for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections took place on Tuesday, with the BJP winning 240 seats, significantly less than 303 seats in 2019. On the other hand, Congress registered a strong improvement by winning 99 seats. Facing tough competition and defying all predictions, India Block crossed the 230 mark.

In Bihar, BJP led NDA performed brilliantly and won 29 out of 40 seats. BJP and JDU won 12 seats each, while LJP (Ram Vilas) won all the five seats it contested. RJD and Congress won four and three seats respectively.
