Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, making demands based on mob power is unconstitutional and dictatorial and will disturb peace in Maharashtra, OBC activist Laxman Hek said on Monday, taking a dig at Maratha reservation leader Manoj Jarange.

Hek, who was on hunger strike since June 13 to protect the interests of Other Backward Classes, ended his agitation after meeting a state government delegation in Jalna a few days ago.

Hek and his supporters are opposing Jarenj's demand to issue Kunbi certificates to the Maratha community to avail quota benefits and have said that the state government should not take any decision affecting OBCs.

Speaking to reporters from a hospital in Jalna, Hek said, "(Jarange's) demands are dictatorial and will disturb peace in Maharashtra. Making demands based on mob power is unconstitutional and dictatorial. A decision which will be on the Marathas. It calls for thought." And Kunbis is as stupid as one."

Heck said, "Elected representatives should read such court decisions. It is dangerous if the people making laws are unaware of these facts."

On Jarange's claim that NCP leader and Minister of State Chhagan Bhujbal want to disrupt peace, Hek said Kota workers can say anything, adding that such statements are meant to boost the morale of supporters and should be taken seriously. Not required.
