Kochi: The Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) on Saturday said Malayalam films will not be given to any PVR-owned screen or theater until the multiplex company compensates for the losses suffered by producers in the southern state due to the company not showing films. Doesn't compensate. Made by him all over India.

FEFKA general secretary Unnikrishnan B announced the decision at a press conference held here, where renowned producers like Blasey Ipe Thomas and Vineeth Srinivasan were also present.

Unnikrishnan said there was an ongoing dispute between PVR and the Film Producers Association over the issue of Virtual Print Fee (VPF) charged by the multiplex company.

He said, the producers' association has decided not to release any film at PVR's new screen, Forum Mall, until the dispute is resolved."As a retaliation, PVR, with a cartel-like strategy, decided not to show Malayalam films in any theaters or screens owned by them across India, causing significant financial loss as well as mental distress to producers including Blessy. There was pressure too," he said.

He said that PVR does not have the courage to take such a stance in South Indian states, but is taking unfair advantage of the Malayalam film industry's approach of resolving issues democratically.

“It is not just a question of the problems of the filmmakers, it is also a question of the pride of Malayalam cinema and the Malayali people as a whole.

“Therefore, we have decided that until the producers are compensated for the losses incurred due to their films not being shown, Malayalam cinema will not be shown in any PVR theater or screen anywhere. The producers' association has also assured us of their support,” said Unnikrishna.

Vineeth Srinivasan said that it is not just the producers' issue, I also affect all the artistes working in the Malayalam film industry.
