Hyderabad: PV Narasimha Rao family members met Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Tuesday and thanked him for honoring the former prime minister with Bharat Ratna.

He met Modi at Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday evening and the meeting lasted for about 30 minutes.

Narasimha Rao's son PV Prabhakar Rao, daughter and BRS MLC Vani Devi, Narasimha Rao's son-in-law KR Nandan, a retired IPS officer, and the former PM's grandson NV Subhash, also a BJP leader, were part of the meeting.

Sharing photos of the meeting in a post on Twitter, Modi said, "Upon arrival in Hyderabad, we had an excellent meeting with the family of our former Prime Minister, respected scholar and politician, Shri PV Narasimha Rao Garu. He thanked the Government of India for this. "Thanked." Awarding Bharat Ratna to Shri Narasimha Rao Garu.

The Prime Minister said, "Our conversation was wide-ranging and we spoke on a wide range of topics. The family members expressed happiness over India's progress in recent years. We also talked about the richness of Indian culture and traditions."

Subhash said it was a token of gratitude from Rao's family members for honoring Modi with the country's highest civilian award.

Subhash, BJP spokesperson in Telangana, said Modi discussed various topics including travel, education, science and technology, finance, 'Sanatan Dharma' and today's politics.

Subhash said, "It was a great feeling for all of us because we felt like we were interacting with our family member."

Modi reached here on Tuesday evening. And he will address election rallies in Telangana on Wednesday.
