Chandigarh, Punjab State Commission for Women on Sunday said its chairperson Raj Lali Gill will visit jails in the state to assess the living conditions of women prisoners.

“We are committed to understanding the challenges faced by women prisoners and working towards their betterment,” Gill said in the statement.

He said the visit would include an in-depth inspection of the facilities and direct interactions with prisoners to gain first-hand information.

Gill said the goal of the commission is to identify areas in need of improvement and collaborate with prison officials to implement necessary changes.

He said the focus areas would include health care, sanitation and overall living conditions.
