Chandigarh, Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) on Friday signed an MoU with Microsoft to provide essential skills to at least 10,000 youth of the state in a year.

The MoU was signed here by PSDM Director Amrit Singh and Microsoft Corporation (India) Country Head Education Sanjay Dhingra, an official statement said.

Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Aman Arora said that this collaboration will pave the way for 10,000 youth in the state to develop essential digital productivity skills, employability skills, English communication skills, entrepreneurship skills and technology skills including cloud. , Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cyber ​​Security and Sustainability.

He said that the department is leaving no stone unturned in providing employment opportunities to the youth of Punjab.

Elaborating on the collaboration, Singh said the comprehensive future skills collaboration with Microsoft for 2024-25 includes a number of targeted initiatives designed to address the specific needs of diverse learners catered to by PSDM, The aim of which is to enhance and impart their skills and capabilities as per the global needs. Employment opportunities in an AI-enabled economy for better livelihoods.

He also emphasized that the Department of Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training is committed to meet the manpower requirements of the industry by providing skilled youth from Punjab.

He said more MoUs would be signed with other companies in the near future.
