Chandigarh, Punjab Police on Tuesday conducted thorough checking of two-wheelers and four-wheelers at checkpoints set up across the state as part of a special drive against drugs and anti-social elements. The officers provided this information.

He said 603 vehicles were fined and 35 were confiscated during the four-hour drive. Police teams also investigated 4,236 suspicious persons, police said.

Special Director General of Police Arpit Shukla said that during the operation, thorough searches of suspicious vehicles and persons were carried out while ensuring minimum inconvenience to the general public.

He said 372 well-coordinated checkpoints were set up involving more than 2,684 police personnel.

As part of the ongoing special anti-drug awareness campaign, the police in SBS Nagar district organized a district level cycle rally to make people aware about the harmful effects of drugs and motivate them to lead a healthy life. .
