Chandigarh, Punjab Police on Monday launched a special cordon and search operation (CASO) around all railway stations and bus stands across the state.

The operation was part of the ongoing crackdown against people involved in drugs and illicit drug trade and was conducted on the instructions of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav.

Special Director General of Police Arpit Shukla said that all officers have been directed to personally monitor the operation and to deploy at least two police teams at each railway station and bus stand under the supervision of gazetted rank officers to carry out this operation. Has been asked for.

"We had given strict instructions to all police personnel to behave in a friendly and courteous manner while searching every person during this operation," he said.

He said that more than 350 police teams, comprising more than 2,500 police personnel, have been deployed at various railway stations and bus stands across the state to search for suspicious persons and ensure minimum inconvenience to them.

He said that 2,841 people were screened during the campaign conducted at 106 railway stations and 178 bus stands in the state.
