The leader of the syndicate has been identified as Amritsar resident Jai Sharma, while the four members have been identified as Nikhil Sharma, Moni, Arpit Thakur and Karan Sharma.

Jai Sharma alias Sukha Pistol has a criminal history and seven cases related to Arms Act, snatching and theft are registered against him.

Police have recovered two .32 bore pistols along with three magazines and eight cartridges from their possession.

DGP Yadav said that following input that the accused Sukha Pistol had gone to Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh to purchase illegal weapons along with his associates, the police traced their location to Kharar upon their return.

"Police teams under the supervision of ADCP Abhimanyu Rana took prompt action and raided a flat and successfully arrested all the accused and recovered two pistols along with ammunition from their possession," he said.

Sharing more details, Amritsar Police Commissioner Ranjit Singh Dhillon said that this criminal syndicate was involved in criminal acts including theft, snatching and arms smuggling.
