Counting of votes for 13 Lok Sabha seats of Punjab will start at 8 am on Tuesday.

There was 62.80 percent voting in Punjab on Saturday.

"A total of 64 counting observers, selected from All India Services and Civil Services cadres of different states, will monitor the counting process," the Punjab CEO said.

In an official release, he said that these officers have been tasked with ensuring that the counting of votes is conducted transparently, efficiently and in strict adherence to the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.

Sibin C said a total of 117 counting centers have been set up in 48 buildings and 27 locations in the state.

Most of these locations are located in district headquarters, he said, with seven locations outside the district headquarters – Ajnala, Baba Bakala, Abohar, Malout, Dhuri, Chhokra Rahon-Nawan Shahar, and Khooni Majra (Kharar).

The CEO said that the security of electronic voting machines in the strong rooms of these counting centers has been given top priority.

The Punjab CEO said that representatives of political parties and authorized personnel can monitor the security through LED screens installed outside each strong room, which will show live footage of the surroundings.

He said a visitor register is maintained by the on-duty personnel to record all visits and an officer conducts daily inspections to ensure compliance with all protocols.
