Pune, NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday said that the topic of use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in farming will be raised in the upcoming session of Parliament.

Addressing the media along with his brother Prataprao Pawar and Lok Sabha member Supriya Sule, the veteran politician highlighted the potential of AI technology in revolutionizing farming practices.

He claimed that AI methodology (in farming) has been introduced for the first time in the country in Baramati – the Lok Sabha constituency represented by his daughter Supriya Sule.

The former Union Agriculture Minister also said that sugarcane production can be increased at lower cost through AI technology.

"We will raise questions about farmers and farming in the upcoming session of Parliament. Even the topic of use of AI in farming will be raised," Pawar said.

He said that AI can be helpful in planning water and rain water management.

“AI is a topic of global discussion, and its application in agriculture can be widespread. Oxford University and Microsoft have already committed to collaborate with us. Notably, Baramati is the first region in the country where this AI method has been introduced. Has gone," Pawar added.

He elaborated on the benefits of AI especially in increasing sugarcane production at lower costs.

“Sugarcane production can be increased at low cost by using AI. This new technology will be introduced soon. Some farmers will be selected for the use of this new method. We are starting with sugarcane which will eventually expand to other crops. Will extend to."

"Baramati has become a center point for agricultural technology, where representatives of the central government, including Prime Minister Modi, come," Pawar said.
