A proper rehabilitation plan is being worked out for a family affected by land subsidence in a village in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir. Officials gave this information on Tuesday.

Chief Secretary Atal Dullu called a high-level meeting in Jammu to review the measures initiated for relief and rehabilitation in the village, the official said.

He said that the rehabilitation of the affected people was discussed in the meeting and accordingly, the Jammu Divisional Commissioner and the concerned Deputy Commissioner were entrusted with the task of preparing a suitable rehabilitation plan.Officials said they have also been asked to involve State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Red Cross to provide immediate assistance to the displaced people.

Around 90 families have been shifted to safer places by the district administration. Transit accommodations have also been established at three locations.

Dullo directed that adequate arrangements should be made for beds, food, drinking water, electricity, medical aid, sanitation and other facilities in transi residences.

He also called for joint efforts to provide immediate relief to the affected people.Dullu sought information from the divisional and district administrations about the status of ongoing services in the affected area and asked officials to explore the possibility of establishing road connectivity with the cut-off stretches on a war footing.

Apart from assessing the situation of health services and ration distribution, he also took stock of the damage caused to power and water infrastructure.

The Chief Secretary called upon the authorities concerned to take necessary steps to restore the infrastructure as well as make alternative arrangements until the damaged structures are completely restored.
