New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his parliamentary constituency Varanasi on June 18 for the first time after assuming power for the third consecutive time, during which he will release the 17th installment of PM-Kisan Yojana worth more than Rs 20,000 crore at 9.26 pm. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, while giving information to the media, highlighted the government's commitment towards the agriculture sector.

Launched in 2019, PM-Kisan is a direct benefit transfer (DBT) initiative under which beneficiary farmers receive an annual amount of Rs 6,000 in three equal installments to meet their financial needs.

Chouhan said the Center has paid more than Rs 3.04 lakh crore to more than 11 crore farmers across the country since the launch of the scheme.Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and various state ministers are expected to attend the event in Varanasi.

The Agriculture Minister also highlighted the Krishi Sakhi Scheme, a collaborative effort with the Ministry of Rural Development.

The scheme aims to train 90,000 women from SHGs as para-extension agricultural workers to assist the farming community and generate additional income.

So far, more than 34,000 Krishi Sakhis out of the targeted 70,000 have been certified as para-extension workers in 12 states namely Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Odisha, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Has been done And Meghalaya.

The government is preparing a 100-day plan for the agriculture sector, emphasizing its commitment towards the welfare of farmers and overall development of the agricultural landscape in the country.
