New Delhi, President Draupadi Murmu on Friday appointed NDA parliamentary party leader Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister designate and the new government will take oath on Sunday evening.

Murmu handed over the appointment letter to Modi, who met him at Rashtrapati Bhavan here on Friday evening.

Earlier, leaders of the BJP-led NDA had met Murmu and handed over a letter of support for Modi, who was elected the leader of the NDA parliamentary party.

Addressing the media in the courtyard of Rashtrapati Bhavan, Modi said that the President has appointed him Prime Minister-designate.

"The President has asked me to serve as the Prime Minister-designate and he has informed me about the oath-taking ceremony," Modi said, adding that he has informed the President that if the ceremony is held on the evening of June 9, If it is organized then they will be comfortable. ,

He said Rashtrapati Bhavan will prepare the details of the swearing-in ceremony on Sunday when he submits the list of Council of Ministers to the President.

"This 18th Lok Sabha is an important milestone towards fulfilling those dreams when the country celebrates 100 years of independence in 2047," Modi said.

Modi said, this 18th Lok Sabha is the house of new energy, youth energy and people have given another chance to the NDA government.

The BJP-led NDA won 293 seats in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections and has a majority in the 543-member House.
