Mirzapur (UP), Preparing for the arrival of lakhs of devotees during Chaitra Navratri, the Mirzapur district administration has made arrangements for devotees to have 'darshan' and worship at Maa Vindhyavasini temple, a senior official said on Sunday.

Mirzapur District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan told PTI, "All preparations for Chaitra Navratri have been completed. Special attention has been paid to drinking water, sanitation and medical facilities for the visitors. A fair is also organized here during Navratri.

The entire fair area is divided into 10 zones and 21 sectors. Sector A zonal magistrates will be deployed in all sectors and zones. The city magistrate will camp there.

He said that in the last Navratri, about 25 lakh devotees had come and this time this number may increase.

“No one will be allowed to touch the feet of the goddess during Navratri,” the DM said.

On persistent complaints of misbehavior with visitors, he said, "Whoever misbehaves will be sent to jail and sector and zonal magistrates will keep an eye on it."

The DM said that people will get clean drinking water at various places and sheds will be built at various places for the convenience of the people.

Regarding the facilities at Ganga Ghat, he said that proper space has been allotted for women to change clothes after taking a dip in the Ganga. He said that the executive officer of the municipality has been instructed to keep all the ghats clean and said that no videography of any kind will be allowed on the ghats.
