Gangtok, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) president Prem Singh Tamang was sworn in as the Chief Minister of the Himalayan state on Monday.

Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya administered him the oath of office and secrecy at a ceremony held at Paljor Stadium here.

56-year-old Tamang became the Chief Minister for the second consecutive time.

SKM returned to power in Sikkim with a landslide victory by winning 31 seats in the 32-member assembly.

The opposition Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), which ruled the state for 25 consecutive years till 2019, could secure only one seat.
