KOLKATA: Former India fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad and spinner Narendra Hirwani have been included for the next cycle of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB)'s grassroots development program - Vision 2028, the state body announced on Saturday.

Prasad will coach the aspiring fast bowlers from the state while Hirwani, who played for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy between the mid and late 90s, will groom the budding spin bowling youngsters. CAB said that former India batsman and Bengal captain Manoj Tiwari will be the batting coach.

The first phase of the program will include cricketers from U16 and U19 categories.

While the short-term goal of the three wise men will be to groom different age-group squads, including the senior Bengal team, for the upcoming domestic season, their long-term goals include integrating future talents into Bengal's different age-group squads, CAB said in a statement.

The first phase of Vision 2028 will begin on Sunday and end on July 7.
