The division bench of Chief Justice TS Sivagananam and Justice Hiranmoy Bhattacharya has accepted the petition.

This matter is expected to be heard soon.

This is the second petition filed in the Calcutta High Court on this issue, as the first petition was filed by an independent organization by the name of Nationalist Anjeevi.

On that petition, the vacation bench of the Calcutta High Court comprising Justice Kaushik Chanda and Justice Apurba Sinha Ray called for greater Centre-State cooperation in West Bengal to prevent incidents of post-poll violence this time.

Meanwhile, speaking on the issue, Municipal Affairs and Urban Development Minister and Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) Mayor Firhad Hakim claimed that some people posing as Trinamool Congress workers are involved in post-poll activities to fulfill their personal agenda. Were resorting to violence in the scenario.

700 companies of security forces have already been deployed in West Bengal to stop the violence.

Of these 700 companies, 400 are from CAPFs and the remaining 300 are from State Armed Police (SAP) forces.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has already ordered that these 400 CAPF companies be retained in West Bengal till June 14.
