Mumbai: A sub-inspector of Mumbai Police died in an accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in the early hours of Sunday. An officer gave this information.

Suraj Chaugule (55) was going by car to his home in Navi Mumbai after attending the funeral of a relative in Maharashtra's Raigad district when he met with an accident around 3 am, the official said.

Chougule, who was attached to the Parksite police station in the Vikhrol area of ​​the city, lost control at the wheel near Panvel and the vehicle collided with the guardrail on the first lane of the Mumbai-bound arm of the expressway. He was alone in the car, the officer said.

He said that after getting information from the local people, the police took Chougule to the nearest hospital but the doctors declared him dead.

The car in which he was traveling was badly damaged, the officer said.
