“Karnataka police stations have been converted into Congress party offices, Home Minister Parameshwara is the most incompetent. He should resign immediately. Law and order has broken down due to several cases of murder, rape and dacoity being reported in the state.
He said that earlier, whenever any serious crime took place in the state, circulars were sent to all the police stations and instructions were also given to the surveillance department.
“The state government has not issued any such circular to the police department to function. No instructions have been given to the DGP by the Home Minister,” said Rajiv.
He said that the Supreme Court has repeatedly said that there should be sufficient grounds to arrest an accused.
He said, “In the case of BJP MLA Harish Poonja, the police tried to arrest him without any basis and 70 police personnel were unnecessarily used to create a big drama at his residence.,
Meanwhile, the police has issued a second notice to BJP MLA Poonja to appeal for questioning. MLA Poonja has filed a petition in the People's Representative Court in Bengaluru seeking anticipatory bail.
Karnataka BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra has also warned that the government and the state police will have to face consequences if BJP MLA Haris Poonja is arrested.
Poonja, BJP MLA from Dakshina Kannada district, had agitated at a police station over an alleged false FIR lodged against a BJP worker, who was later arrested.
Poonja had gone to Belthangady police station and held the police responsible for arresting BJP worker Shashiraj and others.During the protests, he had issued objectionable statements saying that he would not hesitate to hold BJP workers "by the collar of the police" if they were touched.
Poonja also said that he would transfer the police station to K.G. Will set you on fire like. Halli police station burnt to ashes in Bengaluru's infamous DJ Halli-KG Halli violence.
