Jalpaiguri (West Bengal) [India], Police have arrested Pradeep Roy, the main accused in the case of land grabbing of Ramakrishna Mission in Jalpaiguri after a gap of 13 days.
Bhaktinagar police of Siliguri Metropolitan Police (SMP) arrested Pradeep Roy on Saturday night.
Pradeep Roy has been booked under sections 457, 427, 325, 379, 395, 506 and 120 (B). He was produced in the Jalpaiguri court on Sunday and has been sent to three-day police custody.
Meanwhile, speaking to ANI, BJP Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh alleged that Pradeep Roy was not the main accused and the person behind Pradeep Roy was the main culprit.
BJP Siliguri MLA told ANI, "Criminals are flourishing by any means. Pradeep Roy is not the main accused, the person behind Pradeep Roy is the main criminal."
The BJP MLA also accused the police of colluding with criminals.
“I feel that no one is safe under the leadership of Trinamool Congress and the police is working hand in hand with criminals. Again, I am saying that it is not Pradeep Roy but the man behind Pradeep Roy (he is Whoever directed him to grab this land should be booked (referring to the person behind Pradeep Roy). Pradeep Roy cannot target such property, the role of police should be investigated. Should,” said the BJP Siliguri MLA.
It is noteworthy that Pradeep Roy and eight others had attacked Ramakrishna Mission at midnight on 19 May. They allegedly broke CCTV cameras and tortured some monks in the ashram.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the attack on Ramakrishna Mission.
Earlier, Siliguri Metropolitan Police (SMP) had arrested nine people in connection with vandalism and land grabbing at Ramakrishna Mission Ashram.
