Shimla, Shimla Police on Thursday arrested the alleged kingpin of the opium drug racket, a native of Nepal.

On July 3, the police team had arrested two Nepali citizens with one and a half kilos of opium. Police officials said that during the investigation, the police got information about the alleged kingpin and he was arrested from Narkanda.

The accused has been identified as Ravi Giri (41).

Shimla SP Sanjeev Gandhi said the accused has been arrested and a case has been registered against him under Section 29 (incitement to commit crime and criminal conspiracy) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

"The total amount of financial transactions of the accused since 2022 is approximately Rs 3.40 crore. Further investigation is underway and all illegal movable and immovable properties will be identified and confiscated," he said.
