The incident took place at Pedda Amberpet in Rangareddy district when robbers tried to attack a police party.

Police personnel from Central Crime Station Nalgonda opened fire in the air and arrested the notorious Parthi gang.

The gang was targeting vehicles parked on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway. Alerted by the serial thefts, the police have increased patrolling on the highway.

Nalgonda SP Sharat Chandra Pawar had formed special teams to keep vigil. When a gang of suspected robbers were spotted, the police tried to catch them. When they escaped and entered the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate, police officials alerted their counterparts and chased the gang. The gang, armed with knives, tried to attack policemen of both Rachakonda and Nalgonda police, forcing them to open fire in the air.

The police managed to catch two criminals while some others escaped.

During the last month, several incidents of robbery were reported around the highway. Police suspect that the same gang was involved in the four incidents.

On June 10, masked men robbed a family sleeping in their parked car in Chityal. The car was parked on a deserted service road. The gang had assaulted a family of four sleeping in a car and looted four tola gold.
