Gariaband: Police on Friday busted a Maoist hideout in Chhattisgarh's Gariaband district and recovered three improvised explosive devices (IEDs), an official said.

The police officer said that this recovery was made from a forest in Shobha police station area when the police team was out on a search operation on the Chhattisgarh-Odisha interstate border.

He said that after receiving information about the movement of Naxalites, the operation was started in the forests of Kodomali, Ichradi, Gariba and Sahabinkachhar villages.

He told that on sensing the presence of security personnel, the Naxalites ran away leaving their belongings.

A tiffin bomb and items of daily use were recovered from their hideout, while two cooker bombs kept underground in a nearby forest were also seized, he said.

The three explosives weighed three kilograms each, the official said, adding that the bombs were later defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).

He said Naxalites often plant explosives to target security forces during anti-Naxal operations in the area.
