Noida: The Noida Police nabbed eight criminal suspects within 48 hours after a series of encounters, seven of whom suffered gunshot injuries, according to officials.

Officials said those arrested include a Delhi-based robber, against whom more than two dozen criminal cases are registered in various police stations of the National Capital Region, and two members of the 'Thak-Thak' gang.

The first of the three encounters took place during a routine police check at Sector-96 junction under Sector-39 police station limits on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, a police spokesperson said.

"Police signaled three people riding a motorcycle to stop for questioning. The suspects tried to flee towards Hajipur underpass," the spokesperson said.A chase ensued during which the suspects fired at police near Sikka Mall on Service Road."

"In the police response, two suspects, Arun (native of Kheria Tappal, Hathras) and Gaurav (from Meet Nagar, Delhi), were shot in the legs and captured, while the third suspect, who fled from the spot He was later caught during a search operation,” the officer said.

Police said they recovered Rs 1 lakh in cash, a motorcycle without a number plate and two illegal firearms along with some ammunition from the trio.

The second firing took place late on Thursday night, when personnel of Phase-1 police station were investigating near the roundabout on the road leading to Sector-15A, when they encountered a suspect."The accused Rishabh Dayal, a resident of Mayur Vihar in Phase-3 area of ​​Delhi, fired at the police, but in the encounter he was shot in the leg and was captured. Rishabh was taken to the hospital for treatment. According to the police, one .315 bore country-made pistol, one live cartridge, three mobile phones were seized from his possession and his scooter was confiscated.

The third encounter took place near Roza Yakubpur under Bisrakh police station area in the early hours of Friday, when during a routine check, the local police stopped two men on a motorcycle for questioning."The suspects attempted to flee towards Roza Yakubpur, following which they were chased. Due to poor road conditions the motorcycle slipped and the suspects Deepak alias Bunty and Ravi Kumar tried to flee on foot while firing at the police. In retaliation, the two were shot in the legs and arrested, the police spokesman said.

Police said they seized two .315 bore country-made pistols, ammunition, Rs 18,850 in cash from the duo and seized their motorcycle.

The fourth firing took place late Friday night during a police check near Gulshan Mall in the Expressway police station area, when two men on a motorcycle were signaled to stop for questioning, but they sped away, a senior officer said."When the police chased them, both of them opened fire on the police team, but they were shot in the retaliatory firing by the police party. The injured have been identified as Deepak, a resident of Delhi, and Tarun, a resident of Hapur. Who are active members of the Thak-Thak gang." Additional DCP (Noida) Manish Mishra said.
