Muzaffarabad [PoJK], Several protesters blocked Neelum Valley Road in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. He demanded immediate relocation of the high-tension line tower installed on the hill top as it could potentially trigger a landslide, causing a major disaster in the area.

The protesters cited poor construction and neglect by the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (PWPDA) as the real reason for the dire situation.

Zaheer Bukhari, a local leader of PoJK, said that minor landslides from the hilltop have been happening for the past two years, and the administration is unaware of the issue.

He said, “This critical condition of this hill is due to poor cutting of the hill.There are at least 50 houses on the other side of this high-tension line which are in danger and Neelam Valley Road is the lifeline here." In such a situation, the city traffic can turn into a major accident for the people at any time.

Bukhari said that they have been complaining to the local administration for at least two years. He said that the former Deputy Commissioner had gone to the site with him for inspection. However, the situation has still not improved.

Zaheer Bukhari said, “We have been complaining to the local administration for at least two years.The previous Deputy Commissioner had come with me to the same place for inspection and still there is no result. Even during the DC's inspection, small landslides were occurring."

He said, "And now the situation is so bad that it can turn into a fatal accident. Now the time has come for the local administration to take serious action on this matter, but no one is listening to our complaints."

Another local resident said that he has raised the issue several times.However, he said that the administration has not taken any action.

Another local said, "This is not the first time we have raised this serious matter. We have adopted the legal route of filing applications and requests and we have organized protests on the streets. But no action was taken by the administration." Has been." ,

He said, “We have complained about this to senior officials sitting in Peshawar, but no one has bothered to come and pay attention to our problems, leave alone solve them."
