The legal notice was sent to DMK organizing secretary RS Bharathi by Annamalai's lawyer RC Paul Kanagaraj and the BJP leader shared a copy of it on his 'X' handle.
"Here is a copy of the defamation notice sent today to Thiru RS Bharathi, Organization Secretary, DMK, in which he has accused me of carrying out defamatory, false propaganda against me to divert attention from the DMK's misgovernance, which has led to the death of more than 60 people. "We have demanded Rs 1 crore as compensation, which will be used to build and run a de-addiction center in Karunapuram, Kallakurichi," the BJP leader said.

It also accused Bharathi of making certain direct allegations against Annamalai which were "false, fabricated and inaccurate", thereby lowering the dignity of the saffron party leader.
Kanagaraj said his client has asked Bharti to tender an unconditional apology within three days of receiving the legal notice.
