New Delhi: Smartphone company Poco plans to sell 10 million mobile phones in two years and aims to be among the top five players from the third year, a senior company official said on Thursday.

According to market research firm IDC, Poco recently overtook OnePlus to take the seventh position in the overall smartphone category and sixth among Android smartphone brands with 5.9 percent market share.

“We have very ambitious targets for the next two years and we want to join the 'big boys club', which means we want to touch the 10 million mark in sales and then be among the top five brands in the next 2-3 years. ,” said Himanshu Tandon, head of Poco India, at the Poco F6 smartphone launch event.

According to IDC, Poco shipments in India grew by nearly 72 percent year-on-year.However, Tandon said sales volumes have increased by 90 per cent year-on-year compared to the upper growth target of 80 per cent set by the company a year ago.

“Our rise to the No. 6 position among the top Android brands in India, validated by the latest IDC report, reflects our remarkable growth story. But we're not stopping here. At the event, Poco introduced three variants of Poco F6, which are priced at Rs 25,999 with GB RAM and 256 GB ROM storage for files, photos etc., Rs 27,999 for the 12 GB RAM and 256 GB ROM variant and Rs 27,999 for the 12 GB RAM model. Its price is Rs 29,999.And 512 GB ROM.

The sale of the device in India will begin from May 29.

“With that number (10 million), we will be in the 8-9 percent market share range,” Tandon said.

He said the company is diversifying its channel partners to expand its reach beyond e-commerce platforms like Flipkart and JioMart.

Tandon said, “We are looking at strengthening our 5G portfolio.We will launch an aggressive 5 device launch. We have partnered with Airtel to reduce the price of 5G devices. We will look at many such partnerships.”

The gaming focused smartphone player packs the Poco F6 with a Snapdragon 8 Gen3 processor built on the 4 nanometer node and Adreno 735 GPU processor.

Tandon said the AI-enabled Snapdragon 8s Gen3 processor is making its India debut with the Poco F6.He said, "We are bringing a lot of AI features to the Poco F6, including AI Bokeh mode, an image eraser, AI-based battery optimization. We are investing a significant amount on research and development to bring AI to the device. Are."

Poco also announced the diversification of its portfolio into tablet PCs, Poco Pad designed for Indian users, and other AIoT categories.

“Given the success of our smartphones, I think this is the most opportune time for us to venture into non-smartphone categories.
