Indore, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said on Tuesday that by starting the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a message to the world struggling with climate change to adopt an environment-friendly lifestyle.

Birla said that the tree plantation campaign has become a mass movement across the country.

The Assembly Speaker planted saplings in the premises of Border Security Force in Bijasan area of ​​Indore under the campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (One Tree in Mother's Name).

Former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and state cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya were also present.

Speaking to reporters, Birla said, 'The world is struggling with climate change and to deal with these challenges, Prime Minister Modi has given a new message to the world to adopt an environment-friendly lifestyle and has started 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Abhiyan'. . ,

He said, during the G20 Presidents' Summit in New Delhi last year, the countries of this global alliance had resolved to make the initiative of adopting environment friendly lifestyle a mass movement.

He said, "Indore, the cleanest city of the country, has taken a new initiative to plant 51 lakh saplings. With this, it will also become the greenest city of the country in the coming days."

According to officials, under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign launched on World Environment Day on June 5, 5.50 crore saplings will be planted across Madhya Pradesh and out of these, 51 lakh will be planted in Indore alone.

The tree plantation campaign in Indore will conclude on July 14.
