Praising the leadership of PM Modi, Kant said that today people in India make 130 billion fast payment transactions in a year.

"Today in India, we do 130 billion instant payment transactions a year and India's digital payments success story has been written under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi," the G20 Sherpa wrote in a post on X.

He also mentioned that when he was CEO at NITI Aayog in 2017, PM Modi had "ordered us to organize 100 digital fairs in 100 cities in 100 days for faster adoption of digital payments".

“Since then, there has been no looking back,” Kant said.

According to the Praxis Global Alliance report, from FY19 to FY23, digital transactions grew by 44 per cent (y-o-y) from Rs 46,616 crore to Rs 92,267 crore.
