New Delhi [India], Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 17th installment of the PM-Kisan scheme in Varanasi on Tuesday, in which over 9.26 crore farmers will get benefits worth over Rs 20,000 crore.

The Prime Minister will also distribute certificates to over 30,000 SHGs trained as Krishi Sakhi to work as Para Extension workers.

Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and many state ministers will participate in this program.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on Monday said the program will cover more than 2.5 crore farmers, including farmers from 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), over 1 lakh primary agricultural cooperative societies and 5 lakh common service centers across the country. Will be.

It said, “A special program is being organized at 50 selected Krishi Vikas Kendras (KVKs), where a good number of farmers will participate in the program.Many Union ministers will also come to these centers and talk to the farmers."

According to the ministry, farmers will also be made aware about good agricultural practices, new emerging technologies in the agriculture sector, practicing climate-friendly agriculture, etc.

They will also be educated on how to check their PM-Kisan beneficiary status, payment status, how to use Kisan-eMitra chatbot etc. The ministry said that the Union Minister will also distribute certificates to the trained Krishi Sakhis of the area.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a press conference on Saturday, emphasizing the important role of agriculture in India's economy and PM Modi's unwavering support for farmers.He said that agriculture has always been a priority for the Prime Minister. The PM-Kisan scheme launched in 2019 has brought significant benefits to farmers by providing financial assistance directly into their bank accounts.

He expressed his gratitude for being handed over the important agriculture department and said that agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy.

He highlighted that even today, most employment opportunities are generated through agriculture, and farmers are important in maintaining the country's food stock.

He described agriculture and service to farmers as worshiping God.The government's dedication to growing the agriculture sector is evident from its continuous efforts and strategic plans, including the upcoming 100-day plan.

PM-KISAN Scheme was launched on February 24, 2019 to meet the financial needs of all land-holding farmers subject to certain exclusion criteria of high income status. A financial benefit of Rs 6,000/- per year is transferred to the bank accounts of farmer families across the country through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode in three equal installments every four months.

So far, over Rs 3.04 lakh crore has been paid to more than 11 crore farmers across the country and with this release, the total amount transferred to beneficiaries since the inception of the scheme will exceed Rs 3.24 lakh crore. .

Krishi Sakhis are selected as agricultural para-extension workers because they are trusted community resource persons and experienced farmers themselves.Krishi Sakhis have already received extensive training in various farming practices, enabling them to effectively support and guide fellow farmers.

To date, more than 34,000 Krishi Sakhis out of 70,000 have been certified as para-extension workers.
