Around 9,000 people are expected to join the Prime Minister during the International Day of Yoga celebrations. 'Yoga for self and society' is the theme message of this year's Yoga Festival.

During his visit to Srinagar, PM Modi will address a gathering of participants on the occasion of International Yoga Day, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement.

Apart from this, PM Modi will participate in the 'Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K' program at SKICC at around 6 pm. On 20th June (Thursday).

The PMO statement said, “PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several development projects in Jammu and Kashmir.He will also launch the Competitiveness Improvement Project (JKCIP) in Agriculture and Allied Sectors.”

This year's Yoga Day program underlines the deep impact of yoga on young minds and bodies.

The festival aims to unite thousands of people in the practice of yoga, promoting health and wellness on a global scale.

Since 2015, PM Modi has led International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebrations at various prestigious locations including Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi, Lucknow, Mysore and even on the line of duty at the UN Headquarters in New York.

This year's theme “Yoga for Self and Society” highlights the dual role of Yoga in promoting individual and social well-being.This event will encourage grassroots level participation and spread of Yoga in rural areas.

The PMO statement said the 'Empowering Youth, Transforming Jammu and Kashmir' event on June 20 is an important moment for the region, showcasing progress and providing inspiration to young achievers. .

On this occasion, PM Modi will also interact with the young achievers of Jammu and Kashmir and will also inspect the stalls.

PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone and inaugurate 84 major development projects worth more than Rs 1,500 crore.

The inauguration will include projects related to road infrastructure, water supply schemes and infrastructure in higher education etc.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for projects such as improvement of the Chenani-Patnitop-Nashri section, development of industrial estates and construction of six government degree colleges.PM Modi will also launch the Rs 1,800 crore Competitiveness Improvement Project in Agriculture and Allied Sectors (JKCIP) project.

The project will be implemented in 90 blocks of 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir and will reach 3,00,000 households covering 15 lakh beneficiaries.

The PMO statement said that PM Modi will also distribute appointment letters to more than 2,000 people appointed in government service.
