“Congress and Indian alliance people are agitated by this effort of mine, their track record has been to snatch reservation from SC, ST and OBC, they are insulting the spirit of the Constitution, the spirit of Baba Sahe Ambedkar. They want to snatch reservation from Dalits and backward classes and give it only to Muslims,” PM Modi said at a major rally in Punjab's Hoshiarpur city.

The PM said that he has exposed the opposition's conspiracy and "that is why they are furious and keep abusing Modi."

This was PM Modi's fourth rally in Punjab, a last-ditch effort to motivate voters, hours before the campaign ends for the final seventh phase of the general elections.

From Hoshiarpur (reserved seat), which was once a Congress stronghold, BJP has fielded Anita Som Prakash, wife of outgoing Union Minister Som Prakash.

Congress fielded ticket to Yamini Gomar, AAP fielded Congress president Rajkumar Chabbewal and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) fielded former minister Sohan Singh Thandal as its candidate.Citing Guru Ravidas as his inspiration, PM Modi said, empowering the poor is the top priority of my government and it is deeply inspired by Guru Ravidas.

"Guru Ravidas had said, 'I want a state where everyone gets food and where people of all classes live together.' After forming the government, we will work towards naming the airport at Adampur after Guru Ravidas."

Taking aim at Congress and India Bloc, PM Modi said, "We are hearing a lot about the Constitution from the people of India Alliance. These are the same people who strangled the Constitution during the Emergency."When people of the Sikh community were being killed in 1984, they did not think about the Constitution."

Criticizing the ruling AAP government, PM Modi said that they have destroyed industry and farming.

He said that work on the roadmap for the first 125 days of BJP's third term has been completed.

Voting will be held for 13 parliamentary seats in Punjab on June 1.In 2019, the BJP contested three Lok Sabha seats (Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Hoshiarpur) in alliance with the Akali Dal, while the Akali Dal contested the remaining 10 seats.
