Colombo [Sri Lanka], Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe has accepted the invitation to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which is likely to be held on June 8.
Sri Lankan President Wickremesinghe congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi over phone on the election victory of the BJP-led NDA.
During his conversation, PM Modi invited President Wickremesinghe to attend his oath ceremony, which the Sri Lankan President accepted.
"During the conversation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited President Wickremesinghe to his swearing-in ceremony, which was accepted by President @RW_UNP," the Sri Lankan Presidential Media Division said in a post on Twitter.
"President Ranil Wickremesinghe congratulates Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi over phone call on @BJP4India-led NDA's election victory," the post said.

A day after the Lok Sabha election results were declared, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday recommended the dissolution of the 17th Lok Sabha, whose term ends on June 16.
According to sources, potential "kingmakers" in the form of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Janata Dal-United (JDU) have given the green signal to the formation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance. The swearing-in ceremony of the NDA government and PM Modi is likely to take place on June 8.According to the Lok Sabha election results, the Election Commission of India has declared the results of 542 seats out of 543 Lok Sabha constituencies. BJP has won 240 seats and Congress 99 seats.
The BJP's victory tally was much lower than the 303 seats it won in 2019 and the 282 seats it won in 2014. Congress, on the other hand, registered strong growth, winning 99 seats compared to 52 and 44 in 2019. Seats in 2014.
