On the seventh day of Chaitra Navratri, Saptami, 'Maa Kalratri' is worshiped by devotees. She helps the devotees to overcome darkness. The nine-day festival, also known as Ram Navratri, ends on Ram Navratri, the birthday of Lord Rama. All the nine days of Navratri are dedicated in honor of the nine incarnations of Goddess 'Shakti'. This year, Chaitra Navratri starts on 9th April and ends on 17th April. During Chaitra Navratri, people also fast and worship Goddess Durga. They also invoke Ghatasthapana, the goddess Shakti, which is an important ritual followed during this period. Navratri also celebrates peace in the form of Mahagauri Mata. The occasion signals warmer days and the beginning of spring.
