Prime Minister Modi greeted Prime Minister Meloni and the people of Italy on the 79th anniversary of Liberation Day and thanked him for inviting him to the G7 Summit Outreach Session to be held in Puglia, Italy in June.

The G7 Heads of State and Government Summit will be held in Borgo Egnazia from 13 to 15 June.

"Spoke to Prime Minister Georgia Meloni and congratulated Italy on celebrating Liberation Day today. Thanked her for inviting me to the G7 Summit in June. Discussed taking forward the outcome of #G20India at the G7. Our strategic partnership Reiterated commitment to deepen. Tweeted.

"The leaders discussed taking forward the important outcomes of India's G2 Chairmanship at the G7 Summit under the Italian Presidency, particularly those supporting the Global South," a statement issued by the PMO said.

"They reiterated their commitment to continue strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership," it said.

To recall, PM Modi had held a bilateral meeting with PM Meloni on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Delhi last September.

Meloni had previously paid a state visit to India in March 2023, during which bilateral relations were elevated to the level of strategic partnership.

Prime Minister Modi also praised Italy for recently joining the Globa Biofuel Alliance and the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor.
