Kanyakumari (Tamil Nadu), Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday concluded his 45-hour long meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial here and said he felt a divine energy.

At the conclusion of his meditation session, Modi, dressed in white, visited the 133-feet tall statue of Thiruvalluvar located next to the rock monument and placed a huge garland there, paying his respects. He reached the statue complex by ferry service and later reached the shore using the service.

BJP leader and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in a post on "It happened, I think, a divine energy."

Further, the PM said, “It is on this rock that Mata Parvati and Swami Vivekananda meditated.Later, Eknath Ranade transformed this rock into a 'Shila Smarak', which brought alive the thoughts of Swami Vivekananda."

Swami Vivekananda, the leader of the spiritual renaissance, has been my role model, the source of my energy and my spirituality. Years ago, after traveling across the country, when Swami Vivekananda meditated here, it was here that he envisioned a new direction for the revival of India.

It is my good fortune that today, after so many years, when India embodies the values and ideals of Swami Vivekananda, I too have got the opportunity to meditate at this holy place.

My meditation on this 'rock monument' is one of the unforgettable moments of my life.Sitting at the feet of 'Maa Bharati', I once again reiterate my resolve that every moment of my life, every particle of my body will always be dedicated to the service of the nation.

With wishes for the progress of the nation and welfare of its citizens, I pay my heartfelt tribute to 'Maa Bharati'.

The Prime Minister left for Thiruvananthapuram by helicopter and from there he left for Delhi. Upon arriving here on May 30, the PM offered prayers at the Bhagavathi Amman Temple and later visited the Vivekananda Rock Memorial.

During his stay at the memorial, the PM meditated and also offered 'Surya Arghya' at sunrise, a ritual associated with spiritual practice. When Modi was engrossed in meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, he was wearing saffron clothes.

The Prime Minister's visit to Kanyakumari for meditation was opposed by constituents of the Indian faction, including Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK. In view of the last phase of voting on June 1, there was opposition to the telecast of Dhyan.

In the wake of the PM's stay, on May 31, senior DMK leader and Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan alleged that tourists were not allowed in the area, severely affecting local business and 'we have told that this is not good. Is.'

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K Selvaperunthagai told reporters on Saturday that people who meditate do it peacefully and alone, without any hindrance. The Congress leader alleged, "How can a person meditate with 14 cameras in front of him? Is this meditation? This is meditation with an eye on electoral politics." He accused Modi of trying to tarnish the reputation of Swami Vivekananda by working against the legacy of the spiritual leader and was, therefore, 'condemnable'.

The Prime Minister began his 45-hour meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial on the evening of May 30 and completed it on Saturday. Kanyakumari is famous for its sunrise and sunset and this monument is situated on a small island near the coastline.
