New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called on Indonesia's newly elected President Prabowo Subianto, during which the two leaders discussed ways to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and Indonesia.

"Delighted to receive a call from President-elect Prabowo Subianto. Wishing him every success in his upcoming presidency," Modi said in a post on Instagram.

"We discussed ways to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and Indonesia that is based on our civilizational ties," he said.

In April, Indonesia's election commission formally declared Subianto as president-elect.
