New Delhi [India], After taking charge as Union Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs on Tuesday, Kirti Vardhan Singh expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for trusting him by giving him such an important portfolio. Singh said that he will try his best to fulfill all the targets set by PM Narendra Modi.

Speaking to ANI, Kirti Vardhan Singh said, "I am grateful to the Honorable Prime Minister for trusting me with such an important portfolio. And I will try my best to meet all the targets and high standards set by the Honorable Prime Minister." To work as prescribed by Honorable Cabinet Minister Shri Jaishankar Ji."

Earlier in the day, Singh took charge as Minister of State (MoS) in the Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre.With a keen interest in environmental issues, Singh planted saplings at his residence in the national capital ahead of his first day in office, demonstrating his commitment towards sustainability and conservation efforts.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar welcomed Kirti Vardhan Singh and Pabitra Margherita as ministers of state in the newly formed cabinet of the BJP-led NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Welcome to colleagues MoS @KVSinghMPGonda and MoS @PmargheritaBJP to the ministry," Jaishankar said in a post on Twitter.

President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday, after which other members of his ministerial team took oath.

Kirtivardhan Singh has been representing Gonda parliamentary constituency in Parliament for the last four consecutive terms.In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Singh defeated Samajwadi Party's Shreya Verma from Gonda seat by 46,224 votes.

Singh took oath in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 71-member Council of Ministers at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday evening. He was a member of the 12th and 14th Lok Sabha as a Samajwadi Party candidate.

In March 2014, he resigned from SP and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and again contested from Gonda in the 2014 parliamentary election, where he was elected to the 16th and 17th Lok Sabha.
