New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that the people of the country have given his government an opportunity to serve for the third consecutive time after testing it on every criterion.

Responding to the two-day debate on the President's address in both Houses of Parliament, Modi said people have seen the dedication with which his government has served them for 10 years.

Amid strong opposition from opposition members, Prime Minister Modi said in the Lok Sabha, "The people of the country have given us this mandate after examining us on every criterion. People have seen our 10-year track record."

He said, "People have seen that we have worked dedicatedly for the welfare of the poor, following the mantra of 'Public service is God service'."

The Prime Minister said he could understand the pain of some people who faced a massive defeat in the Lok Sabha elections despite spreading lies and misleading the people.

"In this biggest electoral process, people have elected us. I can understand the pain of some people that despite lying, they lost miserably," he said amid slogans of "Justice for Manipur" by opposition members.

Modi said that his government was successful in bringing 25 crore people out of poverty in 10 years. He said that this achievement proved to be a boon.

“When we won in 2014, we had said that our slogan is zero tolerance towards corruption. I am proud that the common people, who were struggling with corruption and the country had become hollow before 2014, gave us the slogan of zero tolerance. Have given blessings for corruption,” he said.
