BJP candidate from Meerut (UP) Arun Govil, who played the role of Lord Ram in the famous TV serial 'Ramayana', said on Monday that people are seeing a positive aspect in him because of his devotion towards God.

Speaking to ideologues during an interview, Govil said, "PM Modi's brand value and the guarantees given by him are huge" and will lead to victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Lok Sabha elections.

He said, "Whatever he (Modi) promised in the 'Sankalp Patra', he fulfilled it. He works on the thinking of nation first."

Asked about his views on the opposition India Bloc's political prospects, he said, "I don't have much expectations (from them). People know the work (the central government) has done."

To a question on people's reception to his political role, the 'Ramayan actor' said that people are "seeing a positive factor in me" because of his devotion towards Lord Ram.

He said that wherever he goes for election campaign, people perform his aarti and shower flowers on him.

Asked whether Modi's first election campaign in Uttar Pradesh being held in Meerut would make it easier for him to reach out to people, Govil said, "It didn't happen only this time; Modi held his rallies in UP in 2014 and 2019 in Meerut." It will definitely be helpful for me."

Talking about the issues he is raising among the people, Govil said, "People are showing their love for me. They are enthusiastic and I don't need to do much to convey that to them."

Govil said that after winning the election, he would solve traffic congestion issues in Meerut, build a sports stadium and airport, besides addressing other local issues.

Voting will be held in the second phase in Meerut on April 26.
